Born in Central Europe’s Transylvania, Elizabeth Henriette Revesz is an American visual artist who inherited a wealth of her aesthetic metaphors from the rich local mystique, blending them in artistic expression with her own vivid imagination and a good helping of personality.

During her formative years she has received a solid artistic education, studying sculpture and painting with reputable artists. As a young woman Elizabeth moved to Chicago and for a number of years she focused on her surgical career. But once she felt professionally established, that artistic vein inside her had to resurface. In her spare time she passionately returned to the canvas.

What visitors to this gallery witness is that exact calling. For Elizabeth, painting is both an expansion of herself but also a retreat into herself. For years and even today she’s been reluctant to expose her work to the public. In Elizabeth’s view her paintings are too intimate: her brush strokes reveal colors and images flowing from deep inside her but the stories once transferred on her canvases are a world where she can find her very own private retreat. According to her this privacy offers a maximum level of artistic freedom. She doesn’t owe anyone anything. She can embrace any technique, she can experiment with any style, in any direction, exactly as she feels. No external expectations, no questions, zero obligations to explain anything to anyone. Elizabeth is not afraid of criticism, she is just not that interested in interferences. There’s not even a shred of arrogance, nor shyness.
It’s all between Elizabeth, her art, and a given moment in her life.
